Emergency Dental Care When You Need It Most

Tooth pain doesn’t follow a schedule. It can strike at the most inconvenient times—during a meeting, in the evening, or over the weekend. Whether it’s a cracked tooth, a knocked-out molar, or jaw swelling, these symptoms are your body’s way of signaling urgent care is needed. That’s why Anderson Dental offers prompt, high-quality emergency dentistry services across Phoenix and Anthem, so you’re never left waiting when the unexpected happens.
Delaying care during a dental emergency only increases the risk of complications and more intensive treatment later. Our team is trained to act fast, relieve pain quickly, and guide you toward effective recovery with care that’s grounded in comfort and clarity.
From a sudden injury to a missing crown, our calm, supportive environment ensures that every emergency—large or small—is handled with precision and compassion.
When to Seek Emergency Dental Care
Knowing when to act is critical. If you’re unsure whether what you’re experiencing warrants urgent treatment, these are common situations that typically require a same-day appointment:
– Sudden or intense tooth or jaw pain
– A knocked-out or partially dislodged tooth
– Cracked, broken, or chipped teeth
– Lost or loose crowns and fillings
– Swelling that may indicate infection
– Bleeding from the gums or soft tissue injuries
– Trauma to the lips, cheeks, or tongue
Even if your symptoms seem manageable, it’s best not to wait. Early diagnosis can make a major difference in protecting your smile.
What to Do Before You Arrive
During a dental emergency, taking quick, smart steps before you get to our office can help preserve your teeth and reduce discomfort.
Toothaches: Gently rinse with warm water to clean your mouth. Use a cold compress on the outside of your cheek for temporary relief from swelling.
Broken or chipped teeth: Recover any pieces and place them in a small, clean container. Cover any jagged edges with dental wax or sugarless gum to avoid irritating soft tissue.
Knocked-out tooth: Hold the tooth by the crown only—never the root. If you can, try to reinsert it gently in the socket. If that’s not possible, place it in milk or a saline solution to keep the cells alive.
Lost crowns or fillings: Clean the restoration gently. You may temporarily reseat it with toothpaste or temporary cement, but avoid chewing on that side.
Taking these steps can improve the chances of a successful repair and reduce the risk of infection on your way in.
Our Emergency Dentistry Approach
At Anderson Dental, we know pain can’t wait. When you arrive for emergency care, we start by getting you as comfortable as possible. Our team conducts a full assessment to identify the issue and provide a clear diagnosis. Then, we walk you through treatment options using simple, straightforward language so you’re never left confused or overwhelmed.
Relief is our top priority and may include numbing the affected area, draining an infection, stabilizing a broken tooth, or placing a temporary crown. Longer-term solutions like root canals or new restorations may follow, always with transparent guidance every step of the way.
We’ve created an environment that feels calm even in stressful moments. Whether you’re bringing in a child or arriving after a fall, our welcoming staff is trained to help you feel safe and heard.
How to Reduce the Risk of Dental Emergencies
While not all dental emergencies can be avoided, many are preventable with consistent at-home care and regular checkups. Build these habits to protect your teeth:
– Brush and floss daily to control decay and gum disease
– Schedule preventive cleanings every six months
– Use a custom nightguard if you clench or grind your teeth
– Wear a mouthguard during contact sports or physical activity
– Avoid chewing on hard objects like ice, pens, or hard candy
We often see patients with cracked molars from biting down on ice—a quick, seemingly harmless habit that can lead to bigger problems fast. Preventive care is the best defense.
Understanding the Cost of Emergency Dentistry
Emergency Dentistry in Phoenix varies in cost depending on the type and severity of the problem. The good news is that we’re upfront with all treatment plans and costs before we begin. Whether you’re using insurance, self-pay, or financing, our team explains your options with complete transparency.
Anderson Dental works with major insurance providers and offers financing through trusted partners, helping you get care without added financial stress. Relief should never wait because of uncertainty around cost.

I had a preconceived notion that all dentists were the same. My last experience at the meat market corporate chain dentist office was very impersonal and not a pleasant experience so I hadn’t been to a dentist since (about 5 years ago).It stated off a little rough … More with a first time new graduate taking X-rays and panel. Everyone starts somewhere and it was about what I expected from a dental office, same ole experience all over again but it changed when Daniel came in to help out. She took charge training the new guy with competence and patience. She redid some X-rays and I was impressed with her competence and experience to efficiently take the X-rays required.Dr. Anderson was great in showing me what issues I had, recommendations for treatment and options to choose from explaining things that the guy in the chair could understand without all the medical jargon only a hygienist would know. The exceptional service didn’t end there. I’m sorry I didn’t catch or remember her name but the front desk lady called my insurance company to check on coverage and was competent dealing with the insurance company. After about the 3rd time of repeating the same information I would have been rampaging with rage but she was patient and got what she needed to help me with coverage for the next procedure. Dental visits are still not my favorite idea of a good time but they all made the experience more enjoyable than my last experience at the meat market places. It definitely made me want to take care of myself better.

We are Canadian snowbirds, and having great dental care is important to us whilst spending 6 months in AZ. Dr Anderson was able to correct my sleep apnea by identifying my narrow airways and replacing CPAP with a mouth appliance that is so much easier to use and … More clean- and I get a good night sleep and wake feeling wonderful!
